Seeking Public Input on Hunt Plan Updates

Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) as part of an updated Hunt Plan.

Wild Turkey, along with American Coot, Rock dove, Eurasian collared dove, and White-winged dove will be new to the Refuge hunting program. In addition, Feral hog and beaver will be added as incidental take during permitted hunts on the refuge. The public is being invited to review the draft hunt plan and EA and provide comments.

The purpose of the proposed Hunt Plan is to provide additional quality wildlife dependent recreational opportunities at the Refuge. Through this scoping process, the Refuge is seeking public input to facilitate identification of issues and concerns.

The public is encouraged to provide input by writing to: Refuge Manager, Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, 71189 Harper Rd, Jet OK 73749; or e-mail shane_kasson@fws.gov. *Please put “Scoping Public Input -Hunting” in the subject line of the email.

Comments will be accepted until July 17, 2019.
