How to obtain a refuge hunting permit:

  • Annual hunting permits are available starting the last week in August through the current hunting season. ┬áHunting season dates are set by the State (www.maine.gov/ifw/) .
  • Permit fees are payable by cash or check only.
  • Bring a copy of your current year Maine hunting license to the refuge headquarters in Wells, along with payment. You will be issued your permit and maps that outline permitted hunting areas.

You may also purchase a Refuge hunting permit by mail. To do so, send a copy of your current Maine hunting license, species you wish to hunt, hunter contact information (name, phone number, mailing address), and payment (cash or check) to US Fish and Wildlife Service, Attn: Hunt Permit, 321 Port, Wells, ME 04090. Your permit and hunting maps will be mailed to you.

* Refuge hunt permits will be available for sale in late August 2018.

2018-2019 Hunt Permit Prices
$10 Big Game (deer/turkey; shotgun, archery, or both)
$10 Waterfowl
$5 Upland birds
$5 Falconry
