Sport fishing is a popular activity at Pee Dee National WIldlife Refuge.  A North Carolina fishing license and a free Refuge Fishing Permit are required.

Refuge ponds and streams hold a variety of species, including channel catfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass.  Accessible fishing piers are located at Sullivan Pond and Arrowhead Lake.  Size restrictions and creel limits are in accordance with State law and refuge specific regulations.

Fishing is allowed in refuge waters, daily from one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset.   Fishing is open year-round in Sullivan Pond.  All other ponds and refuge waters are open to fishing from March 15 through October 15.

Fishing is allowed in state waters (Pee Dee River) year round.  However, the Griffin Road canoe launch and Richmond pump station sites are closed from November 25 through March 14.  Anson Access is the only river access that remains open to fishing year round.
