  • Junior Refuge Ranger

    Jr Ranger Rotator

    Every day is Junior Refuge Ranger Day! Pick up your free Junior Refuge Ranger activity book at the Visitor Center and take it with you as you explore the refuge. Kids who complete the activities will receive an official Junior Refuge Ranger badge and a Refuge pin for Pahranagat! Kids who earn pins at all four refuges in Southern Nevada (Ash Meadows, Desert, Moapa Valley, and Pahranagat) will earn an embroidered patch.

    Calling all nature kids!

    Join us every Saturday in February to learn about the amazing wildlife in our desert ecosystem. Each program will be held at the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge visitor center. FUN-bruary is designed for children aged 5-10, but all ages are welcome.

  • Snakes Alive!


    Snakes Alive! At Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge.

    Local snake expert Dennis Jex will bring some of his riveting reptiles to the Visitor Center from 10-11:30 am on Saturday, March 10th. Attendees will get to learn about the fabulous snakes that make their homes here in the desert during a short presentation, then will be able to get up close and personal with some real snakes. There will be LIVE SNAKES at the event! Bring your cameras.

  • Carp Rodeo

    The seventh annual Carp Rodeo has been scheduled! It will be held at the Upper Pahranagat Lake on the morning on Saturday, April 28, 2018. If you want to win the prize for catching the first carp of the day, come early for the official cast-off at 9:00 am sharp. NDOW will be providing free bait and tackle rental to all attendees. Prizes will be given to the children and adults who catch the largest fish of the day. A picnic lunch will be provided to the first 100 participants. We hope to see you there!
