Skyline and Hideout Trails are Re-opening on Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

After much hard work by our trail crew members, Skyline and Hideout Trails are again open to the public following their closure due to the Swan Lake Fire. There may be an additional short-term closure at Skyline Trail in July as Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities performs drainage repairs in vicinity of the trailhead. Surprise Creek Trail and portions of Kenai River and Seven Lakes Trails remain closed. For more information on facilities remaining closed, please visit the Refuge website: ww.fws.gov/refuge/kenai and click on the Alerts link on the right side of the page.

Please remember that hazards remain within the burn area including fire-weakened standing trees that may fall without warning and deep ash pits holding residual heat capable of causing severe burns. For additional information, please contact the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge office during regular business hours at (907) 262-7021.
