Campfire Restrictions Lifting

Due to the progression of the fire season and current and predicted weather patterns, dispersed campfires are now allowed on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and Alaska State Parks on the western Kenai Peninsula, effective immediately. The previous closure restricting campfires to established rings or enclosed metal grates within developed recreational facilities, issued on June 5, is rescinded.

Visitors are reminded to keep campfires small and manageable, not to leave any campfire unattended, ensure that fires are completely out before leaving, and use appropriate caution with anything that could ignite a fire.

For statewide fire information, visit the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center website at https://fire.ak.blm.gov/ or http://www.akfireinfo.com.
