Hanalei NWR Wetlands Management and Waterbird Conservation Plan and Environmental Assessment

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has released the final Wetlands Management and Waterbird Conservation Plan (WMWCP) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge, which is available for viewing or download from this website. The Service is working to update management actions and permitting systems to be consistent with current laws and regulations and provide transparent processes for understanding how the Refuge makes management and permitting decisions.

The management plan was developed with input from local, state, and federal governments; local communities; and other stakeholders. Refuge staff presented an overview of the draft plan and EA and answer questions at two virtual public open house meetings. A recording of the virtual public meetings is including below.
