Trail Surface
Wooden boardwalk is wheelchair accessible. The section of trail that overlaps with the Mallard Slough Trail is compacted dirt levee. This section will get muddy when wet. 

Highlights
Salt marsh attracts egrets, herons, shorebirds, Canada geese, and rabbits. A short, easy trail with plenty of wildlife to see in such a compact area. 

Connections to Other Trails
Connects to Mallard Slough Trail. Easily connects to Marsh View Trail. Marsh View Trail provides an alternative access to the Environmental Education Center, and New Chicago Marsh and Mallard Slough Trails.

Directions to Trailhead
From HWY 880 or HWY 101, exit HWY 237 toward Mountain View/Alviso. Turn north onto Zanker Rd. Continue on Zanker Rd. and to the refuge entrance (a sharp right turn at Grand Blvd). The trailhead is accessible from the arking lot of the Environmental Education Center in Alviso.
