The refuge hosts and participates in many special events throughout the year that are fun for the whole family!

Festival of the Cranes:  Held in November the Tuesday to Sunday prior to Thanksgiving at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, the festival includes six great days of workshops, tours, lectures, hikes, special activities, and wildlife exhibits.  

National Wildlife Refuge Week Celebration: Celebrate your National Wildlife Refuge System! Visit a national wildlife refuge near you to enjoy your public lands.

Christmas Bird Count: From mid-December into January thousands of volunteers across the country take part in this popular citizen-science program! Join the effort at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. 

National Public Lands Day (NPLD): In celebration of National Public Lands Day, entrance to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is free.
