Alamosa Refuge is open from sunrise to sunset.

Volunteer operated visitor center is open occasionally March-November; closed November – February. Please call ahead for schedule.

Directions to Alamosa Refuge and Visitor Center -- The Alamosa Visitor Center is located at 9383 El Rancho Lane, Alamosa, CO. From the junction of Hwy 17 and 160, drive east on HWY 160 for about 3 miles to El Rancho Lane. Turn right onto El Rancho and drive to the visitor center. The San Luis Valley NWR Complex Headquarters is open Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; closed weekends and federal holidays.

Directions to the San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex Headquarters -- From the junction of Highway 17 and 160, drive east on HWY 160, 0.5 miles to Adams Lane. Turn south, drive south stopping at the railroad crossing. Proceed carefully across the railroad tracks for about 1 mile. Follow the dirt road next to the railroad tracks to the east, the road will turn south. Stay on the main dirt road to the 2-story tan building well marked with signs.
