Wet and Wild

  • 3 Day Series in early October 
  • For 5th Graders from  Hartselle City, Decatur City, and Morgan County 5th Graders
  • Presentations on: Recycling, Clean Water Sources, Moist Soil Management, Wetlands, Waterfowl Food Production

F.A.W.N. (Forestry Awareness Week Now)

  • 6th Graders from Decatur City and Morgan County Schools
  • More than 700 Kids participate annually
  • Takes place in forestry setting
  • Topics covered:
    • Tree Identification, Forest Wildlife, Forest Products, Forestry History , and General Key Forestry Knowledge  


Huntsville Earth Scope Fieldtrips

  • 3rd grade Huntsville students learn about waterfowl identification, refuge history, and wildlife
  • Occurs in November- February

Waterfowl Field Trips

  • Throughout winter

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts winter waterfowl trips and visits

Youth Birding Fun Event 

  • Held annually in November  




Junior Duck Stamp Competition
