For Educators

The refuge provides an outdoor classroom and educators are encouraged to bring their students out to explore, enjoy and learn!

Opportunities are available to public, private and home-schools, as well as scouting groups and other interested parties.

Refuge staff members are available to give programs at your school and serve as tour guides on field trips to the refuge. Education programs are tailored to meet the needs of your class or group. Class presentations or tours may be scheduled by contacting the Refuge Headquarters via phone, fax or e-mail.

Some specific subjects teachers may find useful to introduce prior to visiting the refuge include migration, adaptations, food webs, predators & prey, waterfowl, wetland values, prairie ecosystems, botany, and zoology.
