Rules and Regulations

  • Hours: The refuge is open from sunrise to sunset.
  • Refuge trails are open to hiking and through-backpacking. Refuge visitors must stay on established trails.
  • Cross country skiing and snowshoeing is permitted when there is adequate snow cover.
  • Horseback riding and mountain biking is not allowed.
  • Dogs are allowed on the refuge trails, but must be leashed.
  • In season, berry picking is allowed, but only in areas along the Wapack Trail.
  • Collecting, disturbing, or destroying plants, animals, or parts thereof, is prohibited unless specifically authorized under a special use permit.
  • The following activities are prohibited: hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping.
