For Educators

We encourage educators and community groups to utilize the Vieques NWR as an outdoor educational experience.

At the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, we enjoy and love to be in contact with nature and to teach in a classroom without walls.  With this in mind, we encourage educators and community groups to utilize the Vieques NWR as an outdoor educational experience. The refuge supports environmental education programs through workshops, talks and field trips available to schools, summer camps, boys and girls scouts, 4H groups, federal and state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and universities, among others, inside and outside the Refuge.  We are willing to adapt to the curriculum you are covering and the age group being taught.  All these activities are free of charge and may be requested with at least two weeks in advance.  For more information please contact Sandra Ortiz (Park Ranger – Visitor Services Specialist) @ 787-741-2138 or sandra_ortiz@fws.gov, for information and application process.  Click here to download the Application Form.
