AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a team-based residential service program for young people ages 18-24, and its mission is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. Nine members of the AmeriCorps NCCC Mable 3 Team did a service project at Upper Souris NWR on May 13, 2014. The group worked all day in the Refuge's Outlet Fishing Area planting 20 new seedling trees, cutting down dead trees and installing heavy wire fencing around existing trees for protection from beaver. The Maple 3 team will be stationed at our neighboring refuge, J. Clark Salyer Refuge for the next several weeks.
