Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge is a great place to watch wildlife. Each year, visitors from around the world come to the refuge to observe wildlife. The river provides people of all ages and abilities an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife. You may choose to walk the trails at the Visitor Center on Brice Prairie near Onalaska ,Wisconsin, if you are lucky you may hear and hear sand-hill cranes. You may choose to venture to the Ingersoll Wetlands Learning center near Thomson, Illinois where you can hop on scheduled golf-cart tours and van tours. Bald eagles fly, fish and nest on the refuge.  Early November at Brownsville Overlook , near Brownsville, Minnesota offers a migration sensation. Thousands of tundra swans stop to refuel on their migration. The refuge is home to many species of wildlife, enjoy your refuge.
