Group of Ducks in Flight

More than 42,000 people volunteer their time and ideas each year to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Whether they work on the land, in a visitor center or with youth, they contribute to the conservation mission that reaches back more than a century.  Become a volunteer to contribute your strength on behalf of America’s natural resources.

Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to join us in fulfilling our mission by volunteering. Refuge volunteers help maintain and collect data on wood duck nesting structures, conduct wildlife surveys and inventories, harvest native prairie and wetland seeds, remove sapling trees and provide interpretation. Contact the refuge at 515-928-2523 for more information.
