The Bird Field Trip Program

Ruddy Duck 512x219

Our new "All About Birds" program is a great alternative for groups interested in a bird-centered program.

In addition to our regular Field Trip Program, our new “All About Birds” program was introduced in the spring of 2013 for educators who are looking for a bird specific field trip. A winter outreach program "Birds! What Makes Them Birds?" is also offered from November through March for grades 1-5. This program is also free, and our facilitators come to your school.

A field guide developed by the Refuge and Discovery School is available for students to use during the field trip.

Please contact the Refuge for scheduling all field trips and any other environmental education activities. The environmental education and winter outreach programs are offered for free, however, an entrance fee waiver must be completed for all EE activities conducted on the Refuge.

To schedule a field trip or a winter outreach program, please call the refuge's environmental education classroom at (509) 235-4700 ext. 231 and ask for our EE AmeriCorps intern. For further information on the refuge's environmental education program, contact Sandy Rancourt, Visitor Services Manager, at (509) 235-4723, ext. 228.
Educators! Several pre and post activities are available to supplement your bird field trip experience:
