2020 Draft Compatibility Determinations

  • News Release Draft Compatibility Determinations

The Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge is proposing to continue to allow research and monitoring projects by third parties, boating (human-powered), plant gathering (non-commercial), trapping of furbearers, commercial fishing, non-refuge sponsored special events, tree harvest by third parties for habitat management, and temporary work outside of an existing right-of-way to occur on the refuge. We are seeking public comment on allowing these uses on the refuge. You are invited to review the draft compatibility determination documents  that includes our justification and analysis. These uses have previously been allowed to occur on the refuge and through this process we are continuing to expand these opportunities. These uses also help fulfill the mission of the National Wildlife Refuge System and the purposes of the refuge. The document is available beginning September 1st, 2020 for 15 days.
