For Educators

Education is an integral part of the Tetlin Refuge mission.

We expose teachers to the most current natural resource-related curricula through in-services, workshops, and trainings. We provide resources and assistance with natural resource activities, curricula, units, and field trips.

The Refuge hosts a well stocked Environmental Education library/resource center. Story, resource and activity books, curricula, music, videos, interactive CDs and field and lab equipment are available for teachers, home educators and individuals to check out. The Tetlin Resource Guide is regularly updated and sent to all district teachers at the beginning of each school year.

Refuge staff members are often available for classroom visits or field trips. Please contact us well in advance so that we can schedule to fit your needs.

A list of "ready-to-go" classroom presentations can be found at the end of the Resources Guide.

Workshops and Training
The USFWS and the Tetlin Refuge have developed numerous multi-grade curricula which are available to teachers, parents and other educators. Workshops and trainings are offered at least once a year on various Service curricula and other nationally accepted Environmental Education curricula see Resource Guide. Check News and Events in the News Room to find this year's offerings.
