The mission of the USFWS is to work with others to protect and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for the future benefit of the American people. Partners, stakeholders, civic groups and nonprofits all are important to helping us get the job done.

The National Wildlife Refuge System is committed to building partnerships which encourage conservation and preservation of our natural and cultural resources.  Partnerships with the Refuge System bring innovative approaches to solving land management and water disputes in the most environmentally protective manner.  Scientifically-informed and technologically-based stewardship of our public lands, waters, wildlife and special places must be collaborative efforts between the Refuge System, other government agencies, and private organizations if conservation efforts are to succeed.

Some of the most successful partner and stakeholder groups for Stillwater NWR include: Friends of Stillwater; Nevada Waterfowl Association; Ducks Unlimited; Lahontan Audubon Society; Sierra-Nevada Media Group; University of Nevada - Cooperative Extension Office; NRCS and Soil Conservation Service; Nevada Experimental Plant Station; Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe; City of Fallon Visitors and Convention Authority; Nevada Dept. of Wildlife; Churchill County School District; Churchill County Museum and Archives; Naval Air Station- Fallon; Truckee-Carson Irrigation District; Canvasback Gun Club; various scouting groups, local service clubs and nonprofit groups that share the vision of the NWRS.
