National Wildlife Refuges work closely with other researchers, Universities and science-based organizations interested in supporting the agency's wildlife conservation mission.


The following are some of the recent research projects conducted on San Andres National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Chronic Wasting Disease in desert mule deer.
  • Nutrient recycling from prescribed burning and long term vegetation studies. 
  • Movement and frequency of black bear on White Sands Missile Range lands and San Andres National Wildlife Refuge.
