Valley Elderberry Longhorn Beetle

Valley Elderberry Longhorn Beetle

This threatened species is native to the riparian forests of the Central Valley. The Sac River NWR is a very important home for it due to the large number of elderberry bushes which they feed on, lay eggs in, and the larvae mature inside of. The adults live for only a few weeks and can emerge between March - June.
