Trumpeter swans, the largest of North American waterfowl, can be seen on the Refuge throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Rydell NWR provides nesting habitat in the form of fresh water marshes, ponds and lakes, giving visitors the unique opportunity to annually observe breeding pairs along with their cygnets (young).
