Space at the bunkhouse may be available seasonally at Harmons Ruby Lake Resort (10 miles north of Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge headquarters office). For information call 775-779-2242. The nearest lodging (hotels and motels) is outside Ruby Valley in Wells or Elko.
Camping is not permitted on the Refuge. Camp sites are available at the U.S. Forest Service South Ruby Campground, 1.5 miles south of Refuge headquarters. For reservations (generally not required), call 877-444-6777. Primitive camping is allowed on Forest Service land 300 feet west of County Road 767 and on Bureau of Land Management land east of the Refuge. Relict Dace, the only native species of fish at Ruby Lake, has reduced and hybridized populations due to introduction of several non-native species. A project is underway to preserve the biological integrity of the Relict Dace.
