Educator Resources

We understand that teachers are asked to know a lot. We hope that these resources can help you understand the Refuge and how it can facilitate the lessons that you are already teaching. Below are resources that we have created or that we have found helpful to ourselves and other educators. If you have additional ideas, please pass them along.

  • Educator's Guide

This guide was created by staff and volunteers, including both refuge experts as well as those current and retired educators. It includes tools for you to use both in the classroom and onsite, before and after your trip.

For teachers and students that can not make it out to the Plankhouse or would like pre-trip activities, the Discover Cathlapotle! Environmental and Heritage Education kit is available for loan. See this flier to learn how to reserve this traveling trunk.

  • Oaks to Wetlands Adventure

Though a bit dated, the Oaks to Wetlands Adventure web page has tons of great information about the Refuge, and ideas for concepts and lessons to incorporate into your field trip. Note that the contact information on this site is not up to date.
