Trail Flooding

Due to excessive rainfall, the Red River is reaching near flood stage and has started overflowing onto the wildlife refuge.  Large parts of the Lake Trail (Chocolate Trail) are underwater as well as parts of the Cottonwood Trial (Yellow Trail), Wood Duck Banding Site Loop Trail (Pink Trail) and parts of the gravel road.  Use extreme caution if you choose to walk flooded trails, as hidden currents, floating fire ant balls, and debris can be dangerous.  Walking flooded trails is not recommended.  Other refuge trails may have occasional wet and muddy areas.
