Recent Management: In 2001, volunteer trees were removed from the wetland and adjacent uplands. In 2003 a pipeline was buried leading from the well to the wetland. The pipeline helps reduce the loss of water during pumping. The area continue to receive periodic treatment with grazing and prescribed burning. Prairie chickens have been observed using the area.

In the fall of 2009, a new well was constructed to replace the old worn out one. The new well is expected to have about 130% pumping capacity of the old well. And, more efficient--costing less dollars per acre foot of water.
