Recent Management: Restoration work on Gleason WPA within the past years has included filling of a pit on the property and removal trees that once surrounded an old farm site. Our office worked with a neighboring landowner to fill a water-concentration pit on his property. Other pits within the watershed were filled in as well. This has increased the amount of runoff that reaches the wetland--keeping the north portion of the wetland wetter. The WPA is periodically burned in the spring to enhance the area for pumping. Livestock grazing has been done to help reduce the spread of reed canarygrass which is prominent over the western portion of the property. Control of invasive trees continues to be done on the property.
