In the community

Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge is part of a small, rural community in Anson and Richmond Counties of North Carolina.  The refuge has established positive working relationships with local governments and many of our refuge neighbors.  Community involvement and support is a critical element in successful refuge management.

The refuge stays involved in community planning and events.  Refuge staff members routinely provide an informational booth at local events and festivals.   Refuge staff also present many educational and interpretive programs at local schools and civic meetings.  Refuge Management stays involved by attending the Anson County Tourism Board meetings.
