Youth Conservation Corps Program 2019

YCC Composite

The YCC is a summer employment program for young men and women from all segments of society, who work, earn, and learn together doing outdoor conservation projects at Patuxent Research Refuge. YCC members complete meaningful projects that require hard work and cooperation. This is work that you can be proud of. Past projects have included repairing fencing and netting for the endangered species program, building and improving trails, water control structures, and water impoundments, and contributing to invasive species removal and wildlife habitat management. YCC members also participate in three educational field trips throughout the summer and are trained in first aid and CPR.

The YCC Program at Patuxent Research Refuge is open to young men and women from the ages of 15 to 18 years (be at least 15 years of age at the start of enrollment and must not reach 19 before the completion of the program), who are citizens or legal residents of the United States. Enrollees work full time (40 hours per week) for 8 weeks and earn minimum wage ($10.10/hr) The YCC program will run from June 24 through August 16, 2019.
