Rules and Regulations

Generally, all Northern Tallgrass Prairie National Wildlife Refuge lands are open during daylight hours for public use activities relating to wildlife. Any activities that will disrupt the habitat or disturb the wildlife are not allowed. Restrictions include:
• walk in access only
• pets must be leashed, unless they are being used for hunting
• no camping or overnight use
• no littering
• no picking or destroying flowers, shrubs or any other living vegetation
• no open fires.
Please check hunting regulations for each unit, as they may differ from unit to unit; state regulations also differ between Minnesota and Iowa.
