Neches River National Wildlife Refuge was established to protect wintering, nesting and migratory habitat for migratory birds of the central Flyway and to ensure protection of the bottomland hardwoods for their diverse biological value.

It is part of the National Wildlife Refuge System, a national network of lands and waters set aside and managed for the benefit of wildlife, habitat and you.

It is currently closed to the public but will be open for wildlife-dependent recreation soon. Join us April 13th for our Grand Opening celebration!
