Visitor Center Hours

9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Saturday
Closed Federal Holidays, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve.

The Visitor Center is located off of Hwy 21, 4 miles west of Necedah, WI and 18 miles east of Tomah, WI. To reach the Visitor Center, turn onto Headquarters Road and travel 2 miles into the interior of the Refuge.

Guest Amenities & Accessibility

Indoor and outdoor restrooms, sitting areas, and drinking fountains are conveniently located. All exhibits are wheelchair accessible. The Visitor Center offers ample parking, including bus and RV spots. No overnight parking is allowed.


Only service dogs are allowed in the Visitor Center. Dogs are welcomed, on-leash, on Refuge grounds and trails. Pet owners are encouraged to pack-out excrement.

Plan Ahead & Enjoy the Trails

Stroll through the Visitor Center and enjoy the exhibits and theater. Explore the hiking trails that wind through the wetlands, over boardwalks and through oak savanna and prairie habitat. If you intend to enjoy the trails, consider bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, bug spray, and appropriate shoes or boots to explore.

Located inside the Visitor Center, the Karner Korner Bookstore offers an exciting selection of nature guides, children's items, and books. The bookstore is operated by the Friends of Necedah National Wildlife Refuge. Purchases made at Karner Korner Bookstore support educational programs at the Visitor Center.
