Come help us collect and tag butterflies on their migration south through the refuge! Calling all citizen scientists! Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge is looking for volunteers to assist refuge staff in capturing, tagging, and releasing monarch butterflies. The tags help us, and the Monarch Watch program, learn more about these amazing insects' long migration to Mexico and back. Pre-registration is required, and limited to the first 100 participants. Register by calling 515-994-3400 or emailing Brianna at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join refuge volunteers as we work on seasonal projects to restore and reconstruct our native tallgrass prairie and oak savanna ecosystems!
National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands. Last year, over 175,000 volunteers celebrated across the country! Join us for a chance to volunteer and create native tallgrass prairie at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. Pre-registration is required. Register by calling 515-994-3400 or emailing Brianna at Brianna_Patrick@fws.gov.
