Part of the Cold War effort, this is the modern version of the Ammo Huts that were used during World War II. Made of concrete, the structure's entrance is protected by an earthen wall. This high explosive magazine is located adjacent to the ordnance taxiway. Ordnance crews could work directly from the magazine and arm the aircraft.

During the breeding season, adult tropicbirds (see one pictured above over Midway lagoon) fly in a group around one another, swinging their tail streamers from side to side for several minutes to attract the female bird. Their courtship displays are complex and consist of flying backwards, vertically, and in large, vertical circles.
