Refuge Volunteer 512x219

Besides coming to visit Marais des Cygnes, you can can get to know the Refuge in a variety of other ways.

Become a Student Conservation Association Intern-

US Fish and Wildlife Service works with the SCA Student Conservation Association to offer refuge work experiences to interested persons looking for experience with US Fish and Wildlife Service.  Please look for job postings as they appear on the SCA website.

Become a Refuge Volunteer-

More than 42,000 people volunteer their time and ideas each year to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  This 7,300 acre Refuge, established in 1992, takes a lot of work to maintain. We depend on volunteers to help in many ways. At Marais des Cygnes, a Volunteer is anyone who assists the Refuge staff with projects, daily tasks, or programs. We can help to build a Volunteering experience around you and your needs and wants. Volunteers commute from local communities to help at Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge.

Attend Special Events at Marais des Cygnes-

Marais des Cygnes features many public special events annually, in all seasons. Some events like the Refuge Week Celebration, often change from year-to-year and offer exciting new ways to explore and experience the Refuge. All are family-oriented and most offer opportunities for hands-on activities.
