Rules and Regulations


There are a lot of fun and interesting things to do on the Little River National Wildlife Refuge.  Keep in mind, the refuge is managed for the benefit of wildlife.  Please check with refuge staff before participating in an activity that is not wildlife related or could harm you or the environment.  Be safe and have fun!

  • Little River National Wildlife Refuge is here for the benefit of wildlife so please do not disturb or collect animals or plants.
  • Camping and fires are prohibited.
  • Only legally licensed vehicles are allowed on the refuge's roads that are open to travel.  Off-highway vehicles are prohibited.
  • Marking any tree, trail or other refuge feature with paint, flagging tape, ribbon, trail tacks or similar substance is not allowed.
  • Artificial light (spotlighting) may not be used to find wildlife.
  • Littering, dumping garbage or waste is prohibited.
  • Use or possession of alcoholic beverages while hunting is prohibited.
  • Persons possessing, transporting, or carrying firearms on National Wildlife Refuges must comply with all provisions of state and local laws.  Persons may only use (discharge) firearms in accordance with refuge regulations. 
  • Hunters should be familiar with the refuge's hunting regulations.
