Comprehensive Conservation Plan

come

The purpose of our Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) is to specify the management direction for our Refuge for the next 15 years or so. The goals, objectives, and strategies for improving Refuge conditions including the types of habitat we will provide, partnership opportunities, and management actions needed to achieve desired conditions are described in the CCP. The Service’s preferred alternative for managing the Refuge and its effects on the human environment, are described in our CCP as well.

The Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge has three broad goals for more detailed objectives and strategies. The goals are to:

  • Conserve, enhance and restore native forest, streamside and wetland habitats and associated fish, wildlife and plants
  • Monitor, protect and recover threatened and endangered species and species of management interest
  • Provide opportunities for wildlife-dependent recreation and education to increase public appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats and the cultural history of the Refuge
