The Friends of Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge support work in promoting conservation, science, and education for Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge, the Northern New Mexico National Wildlife Refuge Complex which includes Maxwell and Rio Mora National Wildlife Refuges, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Agency.

Members of the Friends of Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge contribute to major refuge projects and manage events at the refuge, including Sunday lectures, the Concert for the Birds, November's Fall Flight Festival, educational programs and, above all, the Eyes of a Bird project with the Las Vegas Schools.  Also, we occasionally organize trail maintenance and cleanup crews.

The Friends manage activities and functions that are outside the scope of the Wildlife Refuge as well, such as sponsoring educational programs in cooperation with public schools throughout northeast New Mexico and hosting events for enthusiasts of all ages at the Refuge. All these activities are paid for from the generous donations of Friends all over the country.

As a Friends' member, you will receive our quarterly Newsletter, La Voz del Refugio, as well as notices of events and happenings among the birds and people at the refuge.

The Friends are always looking for enthusiastic Volunteers to assist at the Refuge and bring various education and outreach programs to schools and the public.
