Lake Alice Refuge is located approximately 18 miles northwest of Devils Lake, ND.  The refuge is unstaffed and is managed out of Devils Lake, North Dakota by the Devils Lake Wetland Management District. 

Lake Alice NWR offers excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. While access with motorized vehicles has been severely restricted by high water, foot travel is permitted and restricted to designated trails and roads only.  Foot travel is allowed during hunting season in open hunting areas, but limited to hunting activities. Wildlife observation and photography opportunities are excellent in the spring and fall during peak migration periods. Large numbers of wading and marsh birds are also present throughout the summer months.   

Portions of Lake Alice NWR are open to public hunting. Special regulations apply to many seasons and permits may be required for hunting of certain species. Please contact the Devils Lake WMD office for specific hunting regulations or review them at the link below:

The refuge is open from sunrise to sunset daily and does not charge entrance fees.
