It is always best to check-in at the Visitor Center prior to beginning any activity. Observance of the following rules and regulations will help make the Refuge a better place for visitors and wildlife! 

 

General Rules

  • Refuge trails close at 5 p.m., except on Sat. that closes at 4 p.m. 
  • Obtain a permit from the Refuge Manager for any commercial filming, photography or activity. 
  • Motorized vehicles are not allowed off the main roads. 
  • For their comfort and safety, visitors are reminded to bring water, sunscreen, bug repellent and a hat when hiking

 

The following are prohibited:

  • Harassing, hunting and/or possessing birds, lizards, snakes, turtles, crabs or any other species 
  • Feeding, enticing or disturbing any wildlife
  • Removing any plants or animals 
  • Bringing or releasing domestic or wild animals
  • Destroying, damaging or removing any government structure, sign or marker 
  • Removing or searching for artifacts 
  • Use of metal detectors of any type
  • Motorcycle, ATVs, or other motorized vehicles of any type
  • Entering areas marked as "Closed"
  • Letting dogs off their leash 
  • Carrying a firearm  
  • Fires of any type 
  • Camping 
  • Hunting
  • Nudity 
  • Littering

 

Report any emergency immediately by calling the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) office at 787-851-7258, Monday to Friday between 8 a.m.and 4:30 p.m. During weekends, please contact 787-457-0085/0082 or the Puerto Rico Police at 787-851-2020.

Normas y reglamentos

Siempre es mejor registrarse en el centro de visitantes antes de comenzar cualquier actividad. Observar cuidadosamente las siguientes reglas y regulaciones ayudara a hacer del Refugio ¡un mejor lugar para visitantes y vida silvestre! 

 

Reglas generales

  • Las veredas del Refugio cierran a las 5 p.m., excepto los sábados que cierra a las 4 p.m. 
  • Obtenga un permiso del Administrador del Refugio para cualquier tipo de filmación, fotografía o actividad. 
  • Vehículos de motor no son permitidos fuera de las carreteras principales. 
  • Para su comodidad y seguridad, se les recomienda a los visitantes que traigan agua, bloqueador solar, repelente de insectos y gorra cuando hagan caminatas. 
 

     Las singuientes están prohibidas:  

    • Hostigar, cazar y/o poseer aves, lagartijos, culebras, tortugas, cangrejos o cualquier otra especie
    • Alimentar, tentar o molestar cualquier tipo de vida silvestre 
    • Remover cualquier planta o animal 
    • Traer o liberar animales domésticos o salvajes 
    • Destruir, dañar o remover cualquier estructura, rótulo o marcador gubernamental  
    • Remover o buscar artefactos
    • Usar detectores de metales de cualquier tipo 
    • Motoras, vehículos de todo terreno o cualquier otro tipo de vehículo motorizado   
    • Entrar en áreas marcadas como "cerradas"
    • Llevar perros sin correa 
    • Portar armas de fuego 
    • Hacer fuego de cualquier tipo
    • Acampar
    • Cazar 
    • Desnudez 
    • Tirar basura  

    Reporte cualquier emergencia inmediatamente llamando a la oficina de Servicio Federal de Pesca y Vida Silvestre (USFWS) al 787-851-7258, de lunes a viernes entre 8am y 4:30 p.m. Durante fines de semana comunicarse al 787-457-0085/0082 o con la policía de Puerto Rico al 787-851-2020.
