The Friends of Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge is a non-profit organization established in 1997 to educate the public regarding the flora, fauna and natural environment of the refuge through educational events and functions; encouraging and organizing volunteer services; and soliciting support for wildlife conservation projects on the refuge.

The following are some of the exciting projects the Friends have supported:

Ocelot Conservation Festival
This annual event promotes awareness and conservation of ocelots and their habitat.


Ocelot Soiree

 Annual fundraising event, proceeds go toward ocelot conservation, education, habitat restoration, and research.

The Friends of Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge Nature Store
The nature store inside the refuge visitor center, offers a variety of educational books, videos, souvenirs, and refreshments. All proceeds support Friend’s activities and programs that benefit the refuge.

Adopt an Ocelot
Help support habitat protection and research for ocelots through the Adopt-an-Ocelot program.  Go to for details.
