The Refuge’s Environmental Education and Outreach Program has something for everyone from exciting school and special group field trips to summer camps to special Refuge events.

  • Little PEEPS for Preschoolers

(Preschool Environmental Education ProgramS) is targeted towards young explorers, ages 2-5 years old, and their families.  It meets every third Thursday of the month in our Environmental Education Center on Ski Hill Road, Soldotna.  There are two, identical, hour long sessions to choose from; 9-10 a.m. or 10:30-11:30 a.m. Each program involves story time, active games, crafts, and a snack based on the theme of the month.  Free and no registration required.

  • Kenai Refuge Summer Camps

Since 2008 the Kenai Refuge has facilitated outdoor summer camps for a variety of ages to connect children with nature, gain important outdoor skills, and participate in fun, hands-on, science based activities. In 2016 we will be offering two camps (for kids going into 2nd - 5th grades).  Contact Michelle for more details.

  • For Educators

There are many ways for teachers, homeschool parents, scout groups, etc. to participate in a variety of Kenai Refuge programs.
