Oak Orchard Creek

The refuge is currently reviewing our hunt program and some information on this site is subject to change. Please check back periodically to make sure you are in compliance with the most recent rules and regulations.

The refuge specific hunt permit requirements for deer and upland small game/other migratory bird hunting have been suspended for the 2017-18 hunting season. Although possession of a refuge permit is not required for this year, hunters are still required to know and follow all refuge specific regulations, which can be found in the appropriate hunt fact sheet, available on this site.

Waterfowl hunting and spring turkey permits are distributed via a lottery system.

Trapping of fox, coyote, beaver, muskrat, mink, raccoon, weasel and skunk is allowed. Individuals must apply for a permit at the refuge headquarters. We will issue 50 marsh trapping and 50 upland trapping permits per year. There is a fee for marsh trapping permits.

Bear hunting is not permitted on the refuge during any season.

Other activities may require special use permits, please contact the refuge Visitor Center for more information on the above programs as well as other activities that may require a permit.
