Hours and entrances fees are listed below. 


Refuge Hours


Administrative Office
Open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Closed on all Federal Holidays.

Visitor Center
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Closed on most federal holidays, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.
Please call ahead or check Facebook for closures.

Refuge Trails and Beach Access
Open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Entrance Fees


An entrance pass is required for vehicles at the Refuge Beach parking lot located on North Beach Road at the north end of Jupiter Island at the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. Entrance to the Mainland Tract and visitor center located off U.S. Highway 1 is free.

All refuge visitors entering the Refuge Beach by vehicle are required to pay an entrance fee or purchase an annual pass with the following exceptions: Entrance fees are waived if the visitor is in possession of a current and signed Federal Duck Stamp or America the Beautiful Interagency Pass. All passes admit the pass-holder and any accompanying passengers in a private, non-commercial vehicle. Money collected is used to directly improve visitor experiences and assist with the cost of providing safe and meaningful experiences to refuge visitors.

Online Pass Sales
Refuge annual and daily digital passes may be purchased online before entering the refuge and displayed on a mobile device or printed out for display. Buy Your Pass Online!

Onsite Pass Sales
Refuge annual passes, Federal Duck Stamps, and America the Beautiful - National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Passes are available for sale (cash or check only) onsite. Pass sales are available at the fee booth on Fridays from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm, and Saturdays/Sundays from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. The refuge accepts payment in the form of cash or a check, make checks payable to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Daily fees must be deposited in the metal canister located at the beach entrance.

Commercial Van or Bus Entrance Fees
A commercial tour entrance fee is charged based on the seating capacity of the vehicle. The fee is $25.00 for up to 25 passengers, and $50.00 for 26 or more passengers. Please contact staff at least two weeks in advance to avoid conflict with other groups.

2021 Fee Free Days

Entrance fees are waived on the following days:

  • January 18: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • February 15: Presidents’ Day
  • August 4: Great American Outdoors Act
  • September 25: National Public Lands Day
  • October 10: National Wildlife Refuge Week
  • November 11: Veterans Day

Whether you're planning a single visit or coming back multiple times a year, enjoy the convenience of purchasing a Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge site-specific digital pass on Recreation.gov before you arrive.
