National Wildlife Refuges work closely with other researchers, Universities and science-based organizations interested in supporting the agency’s wildlife conservation mission

Some of the recent research at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge includes:

  • Dr. Wayne Meyer with Austin College is conducting a study entitled “Evaluating Painted Bunting Aggressiveness through playback of neighbor and non-neighbor songs.”  
  • Dr. Shalene Jha with the University of Texas at Austin is conducting research to better understand why populations of native bees are declining.
