  • Humbug Hump Day Hike

    Interested in exploring the Refuge trails, but not sure where to start? Looking for something to liven up the middle of your week? Join us every Wednesday for a guided hike on one of our trails through Humbug Marsh! Distances and times subject to change, with a different theme every week. Come experience nature with us! All ages and levels of hiking experience welcome. Meet at the Visitor Center front desk.

  • Fishy Friday

    Every Friday, Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge hosts a fishing event we call “Fishy Fridays”! Come to our fishing pier and try your luck, with the assistance of our staff. Times rotate every week, with morning and evening times. Bait and rods provided, but feel free to bring your own as well. All ages and experience levels welcome! Meet at the Fishing Pier.

  • Open House at Gibralter Bay Unit

    Open houses at the Gibraltar Bay Unit of Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge are a free-form afternoon of exploring and encountering nature. See the changes from week to week as summer plants come into full bloom. Enjoy a nice stroll along the trails taking in the sunshine and fresh air, or capture some amazing photos of the wildlife! Meet at the Gibralter Bay Unit parking lot.

  • The Nature of Halloween

    Explore how Halloween is related to Nature! Whether tt is pumpkin carving, hay bales, or colorful corn — Halloween and nature are closely entangled. Join us for some fall fun and learn about the harvest season at the Gibraltar Bay Unit of Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. Held at Gibraltar Bay Unit.
