Permits

 

All commercial and research activities at Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge require a permit.

 
 Commercial activities requiring a permit at the refuge include:

 - Vessel guided tours (motorized and non-motorized): These include snorkeling, scuba diving or paddling tours via boat, kayak, paddleboard and/or canoe. These permits involve a fee. Please contact Ivan Vicente at Ivan_Vicente@fws.gov for more information about how to obtain these types of Special Use Permits.

 
- Commercial photography/filming: These include underwater and surface photography/filming of manatees in Kings Bay, the springs within refuge waters, and the Three Sisters Springs property (boardwalk). These permits involve a fee. Please contact Ivan Vicente at Ivan_Vicente@fws.gov for more information about how to obtain these types of Special Use Permits.

 
- Research: Any research activity on refuge lands and waters, or any research associated with manatees in Kings Bay requires a Special Use Permit. These permits typically do not require a fee. Please contact Joyce Kleen at Joyce_Kleen@fws.gov for more information about how to obtain these types of Special Use Permits.

 
- News Media: Media inquiries are handled on a case by case basis when handling permit requirements, exemption of permit fees and coordinating other logistics on-site. Please contact Ivan Vicente at Ivan_Vicente@fws.gov for more information on how to obtain these types of Special Use Permits.
