Speckled Dace

Fish are present in the main stream channels in the refuge, including Outlet Creek, Bird Creek, Chapman Creek, Holmes Creek and Cold Spring Creek. These waters support two game fish, rainbow trout (native), and eastern brook trout (non-native), as well as brown bullhead and speckled dace. Eastern brook trout were stocked into ponds located upstream of the refuge, escaped and have been reported to spawn within the refuge. Anadromous fish runs are present in the Klickitat River, and steelhead are present in the lower reach of Outlet Creek. However, none of the streams on Conboy Lake NWR support anadromous species, mainly because there is a 69-foot waterfall on Outlet Creek that blocks passage into the refuge.
